Shri Ranjeet Kumar Dass (01-12-1985), born to Shrimati Hira Das and Lt. Arabinda Das, hails from Barpeta district in Assam. As a young boy, he grew up in a milieu that instilled in him the values of perseverance, social service and diligence. He has worked as a journalist with various media houses in and around Assam, and has served as the Chief Editor and Managing Director of weekly newspaper "Sampratik". His sojourn with politics began when he joined under the leadership of Lt. Prabin Baruah, former State President of BJP in 1992. Later, Lt. Harekrishna Medhi, recognized his capabilities and competence, and selected him as an active member of the BJP.Highly regarded for his dynamic personality, energetic and idea driven leadership, Shri Dass has held several important portfolios, he was the former General Secretary of BJP Assam State Committee, and former State Returning officer. Often admired for his apt oratory and negotiation skills, he was appointed as the Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly and The President of BJP Assam Pradesh since December 2016.

Shri Dass graduated from Gauhati University in 1990 with a degree in M.Sc (Botany), in addition to this, he has obtained a post graduate diploma in Journalism, from Gauhati University in 1991. His avid interest in Theatre and Cinema, has enabled him to undertake several initiatives to participate and promote socio-cultural activities within the state. The movie "Gorakhia Gosai Than" was produced under his supervision. Moreover he has served as the former General Secretary of Assam Natya Sanmila (1995) and the former working president of Kendriya Rabindra Jayanti Organising Committee (2004).

Through sheer strength of integrity and courage, he has endeavoured for several social causes, transforming dreams to reality, challenges to opportunities. Shri Ranjeet Dass' philanthropic benevolence and magnanimity has helped keep the public spirit alive. He truly is a living example of what the Bharatiya Janata Party stands for "Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas." He is married to Shrimati Anju Rani Baishya, and are parents to a son and two daughters. They currently live in Guwahati, Assam.
